This one made my day. Never expected to see one at a yard sale to be honest. The guy is the same one that had the French Kepi, holster and the ladle. I was looking at them and some canteens he had and he went to the back of the garage and came out with this. Had it hidden back there. I don't think he wanted people handling it that weren't serious about buying his stuff. I'm figuring he's going to want a couple hundred for it but I got it for $45. Recognized the style right away. Was a little confused by the round patch as I was looking for a star, forgot about the anchor.

This has been identified as an Enlisted class III cap which was introduced in 1943 for all IJN personnel.
The writing at the top says something to the effect that it belonged to Toshiro Kamimura who was a Sasebo reserve ship Mechanic
It is lacking it's insignia which is a yellow anchor. I'm going to attempt to find an original and restore it.
