Alright then... the guard had some metal added on mine.
Might have been because it was too rusted or because they used a different screw.
Easy fix and the screw i have appears to be the right one.

While going through my bins i noticed another screw i had forgotten about.
It looks like a MLM nose cap screw but with treads all the way down the shaft.
I tried it in place of the rear trig screw and sure enough it fits.
So again it appears ''they'' installed a nose cap screw there... but from the right side.
The screw is too long but having treads all the way down permits me to install it from the left, like it's suppose to.
The head is also not the right profile but this points me in the right direction, to have a replacement made.

I also pulled my sole martini-enfield from the safe and took side by side pics of the handguards. Last pic is of the coiled spring that is wrapped around the lower sling swivel.

Got to thinking... with your threads on the opposite side, perhaps the original threads were stripped and someone thought it prudent to thread the other side to secure that screw. Just a guess, though.
Oh wow... i was not expecting you to take those out in fear of them breaking. That is awesome, thank you. It's perfect.

That small HG should be easy enough to make.
I remember englishman using a sporter fore end to make one. The inletting would serve as the inside of the new HG (if that makes any sense).

I imagined too they did that to the screw because the treads were toast... but what i dont get is why go the other side if you are going to use a bigger screw.
Unless they used a ''mirror image'' as a reference or they screwed up big time in their first attempt and were left with no other choice but to go on the right side.
    Who knows....

    Those are beu-ti-ful
And thank you again for taking the time to help.

I'll bug you another time for the combination swivel/pilling swivel.
Mine still have the pilling swivel but what i don't know and cannot see clearly enough in pictures, is the sling swivel ''boss'' offset or centered to the loop.
But no hurry, i'm just taking my bearings and getting to know this new (to me) model.
