    Modified USMC M43 Entrenching Tool

I got a new book today on US Marine Corps gear. Called "782 Gear". I'm looking through it and there's a picture of a weird shovel I bought last year and couldn't find any information on. Turns out it's a modified M43 shovel. It's fixed, not folding. Only issued to the Marines. Supposedly, they are pretty rare.

early WW1 era USMC shovel covers

These two USMC shovel covers were issued to US Marines assigned to larger naval ships. The location od the hook attachment was changed after WW1 to have a slight angle
