A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. I count three dead! There's one at the bottom that is unrecognizable as a person except if you look closely you can see his elbow is sticking up in the air. He's just a mangled mess. His elbow is sticking up where the butt stock of a rifle is on the first man laying at the bottom right of the stairs

I saw three as well...but I don't see any heads, or evidence of heads, where heads necks or helmets should be. Tough day at the office in the business of combat.

That could be his knee? He may be pointing the other way round to the way that you are seeing it.

It could just be one of the deceased that is minus a head but it is difficult to tell from the angle in which it has been photographed.

Of all the places to meet one's maker, to be got by the "grim reaper" just outside a graveyard.

and it looks like halfway up along the "Stariway to Heaven" too then I guess.

I think it's an elbow, pretty certain. His butt is facing the camera and his legs, or what's left, are twisted around towards the stairs.

From the helmet at center bottom (by the boot) I wonder if these dead soldaten are Fallschirmjäger?
