    surprised that nobody picked up on the rifle grenade or ground signal sticking out of the grenade pouch

    Would that mean that the sniper rifles were also used to launch rifle grenades and signals as well as the normal garands? I've actually never thought about it before. One would think the sniper rifles would only be used for sniping since they were the best fitted and most accurate. Thank you for the very interesting picture. It just seems to me that launching grenades and signals would put a lot of strain on a rifle and it's scope that is needed for its accuracy. Or would he just be carrying extras for the nearby grenadiers? I guess the reason I ask is I have only seen pictures of the sniper rifles with flash hiders attached, don't think I've ever seen one with an m7A3
    or similar variant attached

    I wouldn't think either case. I saw this pic and just took it to be what it appears to be...a posed pic by a photog on the spot making his picture as interesting as he could.
