I'm hoping one of the old RVN hands here will fill us in on what exactly the story on that is. The M1icon will get the job done however.

Not RVN - Korea - Shirt pattern was characteristic of the Korean war uniforms - See Shelby Stantons book U.S. Army uniforms of the Korean War

Joe Roberts was featured in GCAicon article a few years back

I first wondered if it would be a holdover from the past. Not uncommon... I couldn't find anything about them though. The bulging pockets reminded me of the cargo pockets of the pants. I thought the pic was RVN, didn't make me think Korea.

    M1c

Yes, Joe Roberts. He was chosen as the unit sniper and given an M1C in addition to his regular M1icon. In this photo his sergeant had borrowed it to have some fun up at the line. Joe always remembered his regular rifle and wanted to learn what happened to it. GCAicon found it at CMPicon and bought it for him. Then-President Tony Pucci and I went up to Mass and presented it to him... VERY emotional.
