Sig P320 M17

Anyone have one of these that can review it? Not looking at a surplus one as they are $200 more for a beat up example and I can't see paying that for a set serial number.

As a US military side arm, I'd like to have one but not if it's a piece of junk. I have a Colt 1911 and a Beretta 94 and like both of them although I read the military did not much like the Beretta.

I am a diehard 1911 man. And I still carry one most of the time. But, for the same reason as you, I got an M17 to add to my military arms collection. I LIKE THIS PISTOL. Much nicer trigger than a Glock, and when you get used to it, you can be very good with it. Not as good as a 1911 of course, but very good by today's striker-fired standards.

I've since added the threaded barrel and the Sig Romeo red dot sight just to play with it with the silencer on it, but as just a standard full-size polymer 9mm service pistol, I think the military made a very nice choice. I've since added the M18 to my collection as well, but may never shoot it.

Ask me anything. If you were closer, I'd let you shoot it.

Removing any prejudice from "not being a 1911," the Beretta 92 is also a very nice pistol, and one of my favorite 9mm guns.

The 1911 or variations of it is my go too as well. The colt is right next to me most of the time and I have an Argentine Molina beside the bed. I like the Beretta and I have shot it a couple of times but it's a safe queen for the most part.

I have to wait until Cabela's gets the 17 in, they just have the 18's now. Not really willing to pay for one at this point. It will be my next free gun from them, I think. I don't really want the 18 of the two.

I purchased 25 of these pistols for use by my police academy recruits. Since it is a modular system, you can mix and match components to meet your size and mission needs. My instructors absolutely love them and since I purchased them, I have had only one student fail the firearms portion of the training. We have seen a dramatic decrease in students failing the firearms tests and the instructors credit the P320 for this positive change. Besides, it's a SIG. What more needs to be said?

Cabela's got the M17's in finally. They are also on sale. I have one on hold and should be picking it up this weekend. Won't be free, I have to pay about $23.00. Bummer.

Congrats! You will love it. Unfortunately, in California us civilians cannot purchase them or the P365 unless we find a private party willing to sell. That, of course, more than doubles the price which is exactly what California wants.

I would not live in California.

So what specifically is it that prohibits it? Magazine capacity, micro stamping or whatever that is?

I just read that if you have an eligible out of state family member, they can gift one to you. Any possibility of this happening? Not sure who is eligible but appears to at least include grandparents, parents and children.

Got it. $5.80. Only took 2 3/4 hours. We went to an all you can eat buffet while we waited. Love hate relationship with this place. I’ve gotten a lot of free or very cheap firearms here but it goes to pending Every single time. I buy a gun off Mike, I’m processed in half an hour.

Sig did not submit the P320 for the California drop test or manufacture it with microstamping so it cannot be sold here as a new gun. Only law enforcement officers can purchase them new. You can purchase them from private parties who wish to sell, but that must be done through a FFL as a private party transfer. A P320 or a P365 in California both cost around $1,500 because they are few and far between. California DOJ is also monitoring their private party sales to ensure police officers are not buying them and then turning around and selling them for a profit. Several officers have already been prosecuted for selling them.

I'm sure you know what they look like but here it is anyway. They call that black thing a holster, but it doesn't look like one to me. Came with that, one 17 round magazine and two 21 round magazines. I read the army developed a specific +P ammo for these but it's marked 9mm Luger which isn't +P and the little book that came with it doesn't even mention ammo other than making sure you use the right kind.

Now what are all the suggested newfangled gadgets I should get for it and where are they available?
