    Well it was worth a try, some had to be dispatched on the toe of a boot, but they all managed the jump

    Wow, to think we used to clear out a C130 or C141 in about 11-12 seconds. Good thing the DZ is the desert. They must have been strung out pretty good. I can't get over the roomy cargo hold of the C17. We were packed in like sardines back in the 80's.

    But you guys would jump a full rifle coy with full equipment looking like you had everything on the issue list with you. No room at the back of the bus... Always fun to do DZ party with, good luck counting parachutes.

    What sucked sometimes was being on the frigging plane for 5 or 6 hours before the jump. Made several Bragg to BME trips where we rigged in the A/C. Not a lot of room in a loaded Herc to rig, especially with Artic gear. Never even been in a C17.

    Quit jumping to go to flight school. Used to load in C5s for long trips. 2 Cobras in a C5. We put 13 KWs in once coming back from the Haitian Vacation. We would but 2 Kiowa Warriors in a C130 for an assault landing. We could have the KW out, un-folded and off the ground in 14 minutes under NVGs. Never air dropped any, thought we had a colonel that wanted to try it.

    Are they jumping from a C17, bearing in mind that Egypt doesn't have any C17's or something else? The aircraft has a high tailplane like the C17 but the cargo area looks a bit small to be a C17 but this could be the way that it is filmed.

    Brightstar is a large military exercise done most every year. Not an expert on the exercise itself, never have having been one. Most of the time, for something like the jump in the vid, US equipment and personnel are used. The only other aircraft that I know about that has a similar configuration is the Airbus A400. However, the A400 wasn't in service at that time. There have been some jumps from C5s, but it's unusual.
