    Some Sterling sling variations

This one is, unusually, in the khaki webbing and made by Mills in 1956. CR119 was the part number, later superseded by the NSN.

This type was made at the Woolwich Arsenal in 1959 from the thinner 1944 pattern webbing.

Is it the "R L" that denotes Woolwich Arsenal or something else?

I am inclined to think so.

Here is one made from a converted Sten sling. These remained in the inventory into the 1980s.

I think that the blue/grey sling is an RAF issue. Yes, really......... The RAF had this colour webbing until the late 70's when questions were asked why........., when they fought on exactly the same terrain as the Army. That included vehicles too. So thereafter this nonsense ceased and the RAF went from stupid to sensible - and started to use khaki vehicles and webbing
