    One downside to this particular rifle though... the bayonet is probably going to cost me more than I paid for the entire rifle!
    Of course I need a 1878, 1881, or 1887 Vetterli sawback bayonet. Massive things. Overall length was just over 23½" long (blade was about 19" long).

    Speaking of the rifle though... The more I clean it up, the better I like it. The gem under all of the dirt.

    I very much like the idea of finding a spare bolt to convert. I have been watching for one, but so far they are rather elusive.
