ID help on an old sword

I bought this sword at a flea market for $150. It doesn't have any makers marks. The folding guard has an eagle wearing a crown. It's holding a sword in one talon and what looks like a scepter in the other. The handle has what looks like a letter R with a crown. The handle looks like it was gilded at one time. Any info about it? Thanks

Prussian? Imperial Germanicon? The handle shape along suggests that. the Eagle varies a bit from maker to maker. Also possibly a Cavalry sword, look up "Solingen German Eagle Guard Cavalry Sword" and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks for the help! It sent me in the right direction. Turns out it's a WWI German / Royal Prussian M1889 Infantry Officer's Sword
