    Reloading Supplies Report

I've seen much improvement over the summer. Cabelas and other stores almost always have some powder on the shelves. Hodgdon's website had the purple unicorn IMR4895 in stock for almost a month. Accurate powders seem to be always available online and on shelves, with no restrictions on the amount. Accurate 4064 is performing quite well in all my milsurps, and has been in plentiful supply.

Primers are still hard to find, but targetsportsusa.com has regularly had them in stock over the last year. I checked today and their price is down to 550 per case of 5,000, down from 600. Still pretty hot.

Throughout the year, factory ammo started coming back...for a while it was only 223 and 9mm, then 22lr came back in small amounts (finally), but not much else. With hunting season approaching, I've seen small supplies of other calibers. And then...just the other week, a signal appeared from the heavens that all will be well soon!

I almost bought some just for the brass, as it's pretty good.

Here in Aus things are pretty dire Bergers are very rare (Unobtainium) along with most other projectiles in popular cals like 6.5, 308, 303, as for pistol powder ppl are selling the 1.5 Kg Net containers of Trail Boss for $800 - $1000 Aud and getting that price for them. Primers like pistol small are sought after most other pistol powders are through the roof 1 Kg of say AP 50 $400 - $600 Aud.

Things have reversed completely here. Now primers are virtually unavailable and when they are, they're $100/$110CDN or so per thousand with limits to buy. Powder is usually $110CDN per pound but I found some limited types for $75CDN delivered per pound. Ammo is not very available, but you can get some sporadic types in limited amounts.

That's the best report I can give without being political.
    Regards, Jim

Powders like IMR family made in Canadaicon are only sporadically available...pop up on Hodgdon's website every now and again. Powders made in Australiaicon I haven't seen at all, e.g. I haven't seen fresh Varget since before the pandemic. Some Vihtavuori made it in a year or more ago, but was only seen for less than a week.

ADI apparently has a contract to supply the US military so the bulk of their production is siphoned off on that channel.
Of ADI's AR 06H I managed to get 2 Kg's of that but only because my gunshop friends jagged a small lot and rang me up.
I cannot figure why after all the period since the Cov-19 hit that production has not been able to catch up and you cannot tell me that what's going on in a certain patch of the world that its eating up 95% of the total worlds production of munitions and related products.
The next Berger shipment whenever that comes is pretty much pre sold and they are restricting the amount one can procure, I may ring up "The Dragon Man" and see if he has some components to spare!

Was that picture taken at Cabelas? I bought 10 boxes a couple years ago when I bought my Garandicon and paid a bit under $13. I took some to a gun show in May and put a price of $30 on them, but only sold one. Also, took along a few boxes of primers (1000/box) and put $100 on them - didn't sell any. Probably most of the customers at the show already had more stashed away than I have. - Bob
