AI L96/PM/AW Metal Transit Chest Length

Would anybody with an AI metal transit chest be able to let me know how long it is? Need to transport one soon but don't know if it will fit in my car, any help is much appreciated, just looking for its overall external length!

I seem to recall that there were TWO variations of the L96 chest. A shorter one where the rifle fitted 'snugle' and another that was a bit longer. This was allowed by the procurement people in order that AI could use the same chest - with slightly different foamy type inserts for different weapons/national requirements.

Made bu some company in Portsmouth - as were the foamy type inserts that were notorious for breaking down!
