    Sorry USGI
The cartouche is sanded down almost gone.I would like to clean it up and refinish without screwing it up . It's a solid stock but rough and I would like to keep it for the rifle, I have a new stock set on it now.

    Thanks

Well I would clean it with gojo to get all the grime off of it. Now for the rest do you want to sand it more or steam out any dings? For the finish you got several choices. You can use Danishicon oil, BLOicon with some turpentine, or Tung oil. There are other oils but these would be my recommendation. I would go with the BLOicon and turpentine in very thin coats myself.
