So...they were undersize then? The hollow base was meant to make them "Bump up" when firing to obturate.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Yes, the modern 45 Colt bullet is .452 while the original bullet was .454 and the S&W was chambered for .455 Mark II

The hollow base lead bullets work best even if .452 diameter

I try try some old .454 lead bullets but the hollow base still is better

They still make these! I have one for my 1917 when I get a wild-hair to put it into "civilian clothes" along with a set of Fitz target grips.

I bought mine through eBay: Adjustable Revolver Sight - Original Wondersight for SW | eBay

If you ask me, this is a great little rear sight for an incredible price. No affiliation -- I just really appreciate something old school like this still being produced and still feeling old school.

It could easily be made with a bunch of plastic and cost $15. I'll take the steel for $50 more any day of the week.

Also forgot to mention that the old mainspring in the S&W revolvers should be replaced by a modern S&W "N" frame
mainspring, it will also improve the trigger pull and last forever
