Another Reason Why Milsurp Values Go Up

This post breaks my heart. While reading an article about gun control in California, I came across this photo of guns obtained in San Diego through a firearm "buy-back" program. Identifying what appears to be two Arisakaicon Type 38s was bad enough, but seeing the Arisaka Type 44 in the upper right corner was excruciating. Since the photo was from 2021, I'm pretty sure these guns have already been destroyed and therefore further reduced the numbers of Type 38s and Type 44s in the world.

I like that Germanicon G1 there...the FAL. It's the way they're all going eventually.

The police aren't idiots. Not all of these are destroyed despite them claiming they are to the public. Some go home with the police officers themselves; some are sold to dealers they have contracts with, and others auctioned off. They use the money to supplement their budgets. In the US anyway. California, who knows, not even sure if they are part of the US anymore.

Considering the stories I have heard about firearms in evidence showing up later in auctions I have no doubt this happens.

It didn't happen with my agency. I commanded the evidence room for the eastern half of our county and we made a yearly run to a rebar manufacturing plant to have them all melted down. I saw some truly beautiful pieces (original US Property 1911s, STGs, etc.) make those trips. After the former-Sheriff of one of our larger counties in California was arrested and charged for removing firearms from evidence, the state placed a lock-down on firearms seized in California. They can only be released to a law enforcement agency for use by LE personnel (predominantly AR platforms, shotguns and handguns).

I have tried for years to have the collectable firearms sold from these programs an the money given back to the departments. Have offered to do this for as low as 2%. Especially the firearms that are brought into the stations that are give to them because grandpap passed away. Some in my area have come around to my thinking. Its all done thru legal channels. Making a very large pay off for them

Ours have no such thinking, if a local police lab doesn't need it then it's destroyed.

Our buy back or hand in after Port Arthur was criminal what was destroyed, John Winston Howard and The Greens were unconstitutional in what they orchestrated they virtually painted every legal gun owner and shooter as a bad person.
