    Info on these serial numbers

I have two Bren's I purchased from Bowman in my "to do" pile. Nice shape and they have their original barrels, nuts and parts. The torch cuts will be an easier repair.

What's the U.E. above the main serial number?

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. There are another couple of variants that you might come across. BL 74 = Belgiumicon Liege for our Browning pistols and UA 85 for the Accuracy International rifles

There is also a little known serial number sequence commencing SA....., such as SA82 A1234. You see these on weapons where the original serial number has been lost or obliterated. Good examples were Fazakerley weapons where the numner was 'engraved' using a 'scratchy pen' and was soon lost after a haldf decent bout o bead blasting and painting. Fazakerley made Sterling L2A3's were a good - or bad - example.

The BL prefix was also on some GPMGs. Parker-Hale used UP.
