Maybe the frame was wrapped in a rag and buried in a box in the floor of a greenhouse like an M3 SMG that came to me once, another couple years and you'd have been able to poke a finger right through the metal. Things people do...

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Hi All,

Just a quick comment about the apparent pitting. Those aren't actually pits they are raised areas. I think its aluminum oxidization. My money would be on it being stored somewhere damp as there is no signs of holster wear on the slide or frame. It also appears to me that the assembled gun was either never or very infrequently fired as there is no sign of wear on any of the working parts.

So what it needed then was a quick bead blast and anodizing like an AR receiver. I'm pretty sure there's a simple explanation for where it came from. The other parts are easy enough to get in Canadaicon... I expect someone will crop up with an identification before long. Might be worth asking the guys at Collector Source in Acton On. They don't have the cut up frames any more but they've seen lots of stuff, might have some insight.
    Regards, Jim
