    Pirated ship,

Fox News,American crew has taken control of ship from pirates. Now this may sound cruel but I believe every one of the pirates should be thrown overboard.

Heard this while traveling back home a little while ago. Rush Limbaugh said that we will probably apologize for taking the ship back.

He added, for sure we will apologize for being there in the first place.

During WWII, the US and other nations put Naval gun crews on cargo ships; equipment was usually one or more 5" guns.

While the flag country probably wouldn't want to arm the crew, I don't see why even the smaller countries couldn't put a few members of their armed forces on a ship with a .50 MG or a 20mm or a couple of anti-tank rockets, which should be quite enough to deal with those pirates. Details about what to do with the weapons on reaching port could be worked out.

Sure, there are international naval patrols, but the pirates, like muggers, make sure they are where cops ain't. Once a ship is captured, armed force runs into a hostage situation and is pretty helpless.

(It is NOT true that the President has made a swap and the pirates will move into the White House next week. Maybe the week after.)

I take back what I said about throwing them over board,

Just heard on news that they were 200 miles from land,so that means pirates must have had a mother ship some where, would have told the pirates to get off our ship and go back to their own ship or be shot, then I would have requested US Navy track pirate boat back to their mother ship and when found, sink the d**n thing.

Jeff Cooper once wrote a .30 MG would be all that's necessary to stop a modern pirate attack. An M-1 would be better than a fire hose. A strange world we live in where victims can't protect themselves.

I was wondering how they took over that tanker ship. Heck,it's 90 feet or so above the water. Don't ships post any kind of watch? You'd think they might notice a motor boat coming straight at them in the middle of the sea. I don't understand any of this.

There is a really simple solution to all of this, and I cannot understand why it isn't being used. Send them through in Convoys and you would need at most one or two warships to stop the piracy for each convoy. The pirates mother ships could easily be blown out of the water and machine guns could take care of the smaller boats. Sink enough of the arseholes and the rest would soon figure out that piracy is not a good idea.

Problem with this is it's the only one traveling this route, food aid to Africa,it doe's seem though like John said, get some ships that would be traveling pretty much same way and convoy them up long as possible, but merchant ships will always take shortest route to cut down expenses so they might not want to go off course to convoy up.

NY Senator Shumer said this morning that he knows that these pirates are getting their guns from American gun shows and we better block the loopholes now.

Well those merchant ships who want to take the shortest route might find it the MOST EXPENSIVE ROUTE once they pay the ransom.
