A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. My brother owned a similar stamped No.4 which was in his regiments armoury in Hong Kong, as it wasn't on the armoury books he was asked if he would like to put it on his FAC and it came back with him when the regiment was disbanded (18 Lt Regt RA).

RHKDF = Royal Hong Kong Defence Force.

    Edited to add:
This was in 1968; the armoury was full of Sterlings & SLR's and apparently this lone No.4 stuck out like a sore thumb!

I wonder who RHKDF were/are? Something or other Defence Force? IMHO it has been set up after the event, though whether by an official organisation or a civvy owner I couldn't say. The front pad area has not been milled, the T is not standard & sans serif, the S on the cut off block is not right........

Would be interested to see what others think.......

Hope this helps to start things off.

Addendum: Thanks Mick - we posted at exactly the same time. Thanks for enlightening us as to what the RHKDF means!

S on the cutoff block looks like an incomplete double strike.
