Dismembering bad guys the 50 caliber way. Startling. (VIDEO)

These fifties seem to contain some sort of explosive bullet, but since I've not progressed beyond 30-06, I really don't know.

    Amazing video!

Given the size and weight of a .50 cal bullet, you don't need an explosive projectile. FMJ does the job quite well. Around 700gr at 2800fps

Go to this site Varmint Video Clips. and look at the video "When Pigs Fly". I believe it is some of the same footage.

I remember this video from years ago and it was established then that those are gophers and ground squirrels getting hit.

    Mark 211 .50-caliber Multipurpose Ammunition

Yeah, you don't want to get hit with one of these. Maybe somebody who has actually fired these can chime in.

The XM107 .50-caliber sniper rifle is capable of firing the entire family of .50-caliber ammunition, other than the SLAP round. It is specifically tailored to the Mark 211 (Mk211) .50-caliber multipurpose anti-materiel round. The Raufoss Multipurpose (armor-piercing, explosive, incendiary) Ammunition is the crown jewel of .50 caliber sniper ammunition. This multi-purpose round was developed by the Norwegianicon company Nordic Ammunition Company (NAMMO) Raufoss AS. It is manufactured under license by several American companies, including Winchester. It is said to be the most popular round with US military snipers, it was used to good effect by US forces in the 1991 Gulf War.

The round combines armor-piercing, explosive, and incendiary effects and uses a highly effective pyrotechnically initiated fuze that delays detonation of the main projectile charge until after initial target penetration-moving projectile fragmentation and damage effect inside the target for maximum anti-personnel and fire start effect. While the round can be used in sniper rifles similar to the Barrett M82A1/XM107, it has the equivalent firing power of a 20 mm projectile to include such targets as helicopters, aircraft, light armour vehicles, ships and light fortifications, and can ignite JP4 and JP8 military jet fuel.

This has been going around for a long time. It is in fact video of rock chucks, an often hunted varnint. There is no indication that any of the shots are of people. The video tape/DVD "Prairy Dogs Be Gone 2" from velocity films shows the 50 BMG bolt rifle used on large varmints. I have this video, but cannot attest that this footage came from this particular DVD, but it may have.
People in the position to fire on enemy combatants with small or large sniper rifles do not make video tapes for you tube showing off their exploits. People shooting varmints at long range with cool equipment do.
Any footage of US military snipers is very rare and never shows the target in a tactical situation. About the only way to see actual enemy eradication is the attack helicopter footage that is realeased. In these videos the enemy is mearly vaporized by 30mm cannons leaving a glowing heat signature of jihad goo. Search live leak for one called "dog escapes" it is one of the better ones.

But there was one very graphic pic posted a long time ago of a jihadi hit in the head by a .50 round. Not much left.

.50 cal packs a lot of steam but not near enough energy to lift 50-100 lbs of meat more than 20 feet into the air. Some of these can not be human targets. Semper Fi.

Yeah? And Yoda is a real 900 year-old 3 foot nothin' alien that can pick up a bus and toss it like a used Kleenex just by scowling at it.....Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey all live happily in a swamp...the "USS Enterprise" flies across the galaxy at Warp-6, and Christopher Reeve actually walked on TV with no spinal-cord....has to be, I've seen the video! Is "CG" a term you're familiar with Lou?
