    Gun Show Find 1911 Holster

Is this real or a commercial reproduction? I bought this at a small gun show back in January and am just getting around to it. No markings at all except Bucheimer and 7791466. It seems to be in very good condition with strong flexible leather and just minor abrasions although it is slightly flattened from storage. The price was low under $20 so if it ends up being a repop I'm not worried. The seller claims that it's US military from the later Vietnam War or just after. It fits my 1911A1 or my High Power equally well. So how did I do?

It looks good to me. They were one of the producers for RVN and after. They were produced in black as you have and I'm pretty sure this one's good. Looks like it.

Thank you gentlemen. So the guy is an honest seller, good to know. I'll look for him at the next show to see what else he has.
Is this as issued or was there any lanyard or strap that went with it?

I'm not sure if the leather tie thong was still standard issue, I have seen them with one attached.

I have seen the old brown M1911 holsters dyed black too. During the Viet Nam era more pistols were issued, for example when the M79 40mm was issued
at one per squad, that man also was issued a M1911A1 and others were also issued the pistol. I think they were starting to use-up the old supply of holsters
that and the fact that leather did not last too well in Viet Nam

Yes, that was a general order, dye them black. I think that started back around Korea? Those of course carried the old manufacturer names. These others, Cathay Ent and Bucheimer were produced special. I don't think there were any other new manufacture holsters were there?

I remember being issued a brand new black holster for the M1911 in the early 1980's. When we turned in the M1911 for the M9. I was told to keep the holster and still have it. Its a Bucheimer as well. We also had a lot of the dyed ones as well from the WWII era.
