Good morning.
I have had the above gun for several years now...& weekly have a comp at 100m against my son who has an anshutz target rifle (loser buys brekkie).
Anyway on the butt of my gun is a line...that looks like at some point it was reduced in length, then joined up again? It's been well done but I'm wondering why this would have been done?

I've seen several over time that were done, different models and makes. The butt was shortened or has had a recoil pad and then needed to either be lengthened again or returned to original visually. Thus the added piece.

It was a common practice in rifle clubs to shorten the stocks of older rifles for young shooters to get them into the sport. The rifles eventually get sold off and the new owners lengthen them to a useable length. I recently purchased 12 rifles off a club that was closing due to a lack of younger shooters coming through. There were 4 Model 12's, 6 Model 12/15's and 2 Mk II Internationals. Only 1 International, 1 Model 12 and 2 Model 12/15's had not been shortened. They convert into wonderful sporting rifles for which there is a ready market.
