    Ambush

Remains of an M1icon carbine after taking multiple hits during an ambush in 1964.
One would hope the user survived but the projectiles penetration of the barrel seems the range was a short one and multiple so perhaps a heavy MG.

Those look like .30 cal holes to me. They'll go right through thin stuff like that too. Guess it would depend on where the user was holding or carrying...remember the purpose of an ambush.

I'm not sure what the odds are that 3 rounds could strike an 18" long object about 1" in width perfectly in the center of the width from 2 different angles.....

Except that they're there. I get you though, someone destroyed that on purpose at close range.

Perhaps a bit of sensationalism hard to prove but that was what the first sentence said, my own take on it was the second sentence.

It does look like 30 cal. Probably a M91/30 or a MG firing that Russianicon caliber?

Dibs on the front swivel/barrel band.

You can see there was a bayonet lug there but it was shot off, the remains of the front of the pressed steel is still wrapped around,
