Ceremonial use by Germany of K98

Is there a reason why Germanyicon doesn't seem to use bayonets on their K98 rifles for ceremonial duties? Or do they for some events and not others?

Is that not the Navy that made up the honor guard? Maybe the Navy has no use for bayonets.

    Thanks for the response.

From what I could see online all 3 services that make up the Wachtbataillon, stationed in Berlin, and who perform Germanyicon's honour guards etc don't appear to use bayonets. The K98's that they use still appear to have bayonet lugs in situ as far as I can see.

Apparently the K98's that Germany now use for ceremonial use were "given back" by Franceicon in the 1950's when the post WW2 German border guards/army were formed. If it is a case of not having a sufficient quantity of bayonets available one wonders why they don't purchase some from the collector's market or use reproductions.

The K98's did get "cleansed" of any remaining "Nazi markings" around 25 years ago.

No frogs in sight, so no bayonets. Why not is anyone's guess, but presumably political. Too reminiscent of all those daggers and dirks the Third Reich was so fond of?
