    Iraqi Desert Storm Beret

I usually forget about my war but every once in a while I'll do a search to see what comes up. Found this in the last one and learned a bit about Iraqi beret badges in the process. There are a lot of berets listed as Desert Storm but most are later. Correct badges like this one have the three stars going vertical. After Desert Storm the badge was changed to the stars going horizontal. This one actually has paperwork which wasn't listed at time of purchase so it was a bit of a surprise.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. I had a Sadam dollar until it ended up with my ex wife. My daughter will get it eventually so not all is lost. A friend of mine spent a while collecting Republican Guard for interogation...at the end.

I'm kicking myself now because when I was there, I never really thought a whole lot about this stuff. I sent a whole lot of MRE's home, some electric carpentry tools they were throwing away and some East Germanicon things that were donated by the Germans (united) for the war effort. I have one or two Sadamn currency bills, one with white horses on it, not sure about the other. I have an Iraqi shirt jacket and a pair of pants, both camouflaged but non-matching. I have an official Koran given to me by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a few Saudi coins. I managed to bring home a pack of Desert TP also. I have a photo book with photos your never going to see in any books. Encounters of Iraqi soldiers with US tanks and a whole lot of precision bomb hits.
