On the site ZEFARM, item #2141 is an EXELLENT, Long Branch, No.4 M 1*. The photo of the reciever however, looks like it has been sand blasted, in fact the M1* looks to be worn right away. Is this considered Ex. ?
Back in Jan. I passed the course for my PAL and RPAL, so I'm shopping while I"m waiting on the good folks in Mirimishi. I don't have any hands on experience buying mil/surp so any advice is much appriciated.

If you can, post a link to the auction in the Commercial Sales Gossip forum. That way we can all see the same info and discuss it there.

The marking should read "No.4 Mk I*". If the 'k' isn't visible it's been buffed or worn off at some point. That may have been during an arsenal refurb.

Zefarm is known for making very optimistic claims to his merchandise.
The left side of this rifle looks like a very bad casting. Not sure how that relates to the poor stamping.

If you look on another of his rifles, he has "new unfired" attached to an arsenal rework of a Savage.

Looks like the action has been sandblasted and refinished with parkerizing or Duracoat gray paint?

At the very last it was blasted and zinc parked. There looks like welding on the receiver bridge too??? Bolt looks renumbered in a bigger font than receiver.

I wouldn't touch that rifle with YOUR money DEFINITELY not for $600+

I'm thinking that with that big lump located under the charger bridge (It could be a bad casting) maybe kept the die high on the right end, resulting in the missing marking. Without examining the rifle in person it's hard to say.

Claven....I noticed that oversize numbering of the bolt handle as well, but again, without getting to physically examine the bolt in person for gind or buff marks, it's a bit of a tough call.

Lots suspicious there....for $600 you can still find some pretty nice LBs. This doesn't look to be one of them.

Wouldn't touch that rifle with someone else's 10 ft. pole. Don't think it is blasted, the receiver looks like its been refinished over rust pits. Have no idea what that patch is on the receiver. Sometimes on UK rebuilds the charger guide was welded on each end, but these welds are very small and local. I don't think the receivers were cast, but were machined from forgings. I've never seen a receiver that had unmachined, as forged, surfaces. There is something badly wrong with that receiver.
