    RIA Barrel Date Question?

A week or so ago there was a question about a RIA barrel with a mfg. date of 1922. I think JB said RIA did make barrels that late.
On the table next to mine at this weekends gun show there was a RIA barrel dated 10-28 with a steel lot code of C122. Also at the 6:00 on the muzzle there appeared to be a very faint star gauge mark. No star gauge number on the barrel.
On page 207 of Brophy's `03 book it mentions that Rock Island did star gauge barrels.

Questions I have from the above information:

How late did RIA mfg barrels?

If RIA did star gauge barrels, how and/or did they mark the barrels?

Could this barrel be one or is it just a fluke?

Thank you for any and all help
    Chuck

    (1) The last known RIA regular-production barrels were dated R.I.A./5-22.

    (2) RIA did indeed star-gauge barrels. But, the marking they applied, if any, remains unknown.

    (3) The barrel is no fluke. It's a fake.

My parkerized RIA 4-22 barrel has a steel lot code of C131. No other markings but a "P". I use it to prop open my door. It works well .

"R.I.A./4-22" and "R.I.A./5-22" ? You now have one of each?

I already have an "R.I.A./5-22" in my data base credited to you.

    Ria 5-22

I have a RIA 5-22 with a small P under the date stamp the receiver is RIA 330385 this was a barreled receiver from the last CMPicon offering. If you are interested in the seel lot code I can get that for you as well.

I must have given you the wrong month. It is a RIA 4-22, STL C131, with the STL stamped on top of the barrel 6" in front of the RSFB. I am looking at it as I type this.

    Thanks for your kind offer!

I would like to have the steel lot code, but only if it's convenient to do so. The steel lot code should be stamped atop the barrel underneath the handguard. Simply removing the handguard should expose it.

    Thanks!

    steel lot code

My barrel is also stamped C131. Hope this helps. I also have a straight handled bolt with a C on the bottom of the safety lug and a 1 and punch on the handle. I did not see this marking in your list of bolts. I got it from GB so I have no idea what SN rifle it would have been on.

    John,
Can the barrel be dated by the C122 code?

    Thanks
    Chuck
