"Pennsylvanians, your 'assault weapons' jam and are no good for home defence"

    from CNBC World News:

Gun and ammunition sales have been spiking, partly due to fears President Obama will reinstate a federal ban on assault weapons, but the weapons aren't practical for home protection, a state governor said.

"It’s nuts for ordinary citizens to go out and buy assault weapons," Gov. Ed Rendell, D-Pa., told CNBC. "Assault weapons are difficult to operate, they jam easily. If you want a gun to protect your home it’s the last thing you should have."

Rendell, who has been a vocal supporter of reinstating the ban on assault weapons, which expired in 2004, says federal and state lawmakers must stand against the gun lobby and support reinstating the ban.

"These weapons have one purpose," added Rendell. "...They’re to kill and to maim, and they shouldn’t be in the hands of anyone else but the police and the military."

    What an illiterate jerk.

In the first place, there are NO Assault Rifles in the hands of "ordinary citizens". What the gun grabbers call assault rifles are only semi-auto rifles.

Second, most ordinary citizens prefer other guns for home defense. I prefer a Carbine, many prefer good pistols. The last thing I would want is an AK.

It's just plain jibberish, he is trying to justify but is showing his ignorance.

I remember Rendell when he was Mayor of Philadelphia. He was a blowhard then and he still is. I see he was a 2nd Lt. in the Army reserves for six years, but the largest weapon he ever came across was probably a pencil, since he doesnt seem to know much about guns.

If they are so unreliable and hard to use, why ban them??

Is that why our military uses assault weapons, real assault weapons? The fact that he didn't move beyond 0-1 after being in the reserves for six years says something in itself. Carl

Not quite accurate, the only reason most ordinary citizens don't own full automatic weapons are their cost and availability to purchase. All due to OUR federal government posing restrictions upon us. You can bet, if I hit the lottery (fat chance as I don't play) I'd have a Ma Duce mounted on the roof of my home....and perfectly legal.

and given the fact that the other side can take a farmer out of his rice paddy, an arab out of the desert, a native out of the jungle and teach them how to operate and maintain one of them there A-salt rifles in a couple of hours, Rendell must be mentaly retarded or a liberal, but then I repeat myself.

They deliberately tag any weapon they don't like as an "assault weapon"

I'm sure they know the difference.

Their comments are designed to pursuade those who don't know about guns. It's the way to try to arouse fears among non gun-owners by throwing the term "assault" on any weapon they want to ban.

That's how the left controls the masses; deceit!

We cannot afford to "get used to it" or we'll lose. We better challenge them each and every time, including the news papers in our cities, towns, villages, hamlets and suburbs.

Your editor should be used to hearing from you; "I just want to point out a significant factual error in that news item you just ran where you quoted that great azzhole..."

Well, don't put it that way, but you get the idea.

If these news people begin to realize that we'll jump on them every time they display such ignorance, it could do some good.

Just think "stubborn mule + "whack with a plank" = attentive mule.
