    FN Mauser in 22Lr.

I've been doing some research on the 1952 FN Mausers in 22lr. Do any of the members here have one of these? If so which one do you have?
I have two of the variations, and ABL made for the Belgian Army and one that was made for the Israeli IDF. There was also another version of the ABL that was parkerised and was Belgian Navy issue. There were 1000 of the ABL's made.
I thought there were 1000 made for the Israeli IDF but I've heard of a serial number below 1000 and mine is 1630. I presumed that with mine being over 1000 that FN started the serial numbers for the Israeli IDF rifles after the run on the ABL's which went from 001-1000, I have 016. There is a book on Mausers that has more info, but I haven't acquired it yet. I don't know the title off hand. Here is a pic of my rifles

I just took delivery of an FN Israeli .22 trainer. Number 13xx. Found it on the Sturmgewehr board. The ad is still there with pictures. The stock has nicks but the metal and bore are in fine shape. I'll take it to the range tomorrow.

You picked up a rare piece for a good price. You don't see many of the 1952 FN 22lr's for sale. It should be a keeper. Thanks for posting about your find.

There is also an FN .22 training rifle made for the Force Publique in the Belgian Congo with "FP" on its receiver, made in the same era, the early 1950's. It has a black enamel paint finish, just like many 1951-dated ABL Mle 1924's.

I was aware of the FP, I believe there were only 300 of the Belgian Congo rifles made. I'm interested in pics of the Remington barreled Israeli rifles and serial numbers of the FN Israeli rifles to see if they start at 1001.

I was up in Vancouver, Canada and walked into a very nice gunshop. Piles of Swedish Mausers and a rack of those .22 rifles. I asked the owner if an American could buy a .22 and he said I needed a FAC. No sale!

    Israel 0.22 trainer?

Think that I might have one. Thought it was a german sniper trainer. I was young and inexperienced. Can't find any info except for what little Ball has to say. Serial # is 0610590 with 0590 stamped at the bottom of the stock, next to the 0.22. The reciever, and bent bolt have the 0.22 as well. The rear sight collar says 400 divided 25. And the barrel is real, not a liner. It has the Israel type wood furniture. Receiver has no crest just serial on one side and 0.22 on the other.
The whole rifle was Germaned up with marks and had a paul jenkins/zelvier-mount/scope attached to the side rail. I think its on a vz 24 Czech receiver and the entire gun is in the white (no blueing). It has a Czech marked k98 sling and a little Czech mark on the right bayonet lug.
Been trying to find any info so to determine what gun I actually have. Will try and get some pictures posted. wolf

The mark in the circle on the sling is Israeli IDF mark. It's the same one on my FN trainer. Have you had the rifle apart to see the marks in the barrel?
The 022 is also an Israeli marking, again the same as my rifle is marked.
How is the bolt set up?

    Belgian Fusil Mle 1924.22

Know of a mint, like new, perfect Belgian Naval model with the grey park finish, but can't come up with a fair, realistic price to offer. Any suggestions?
Not much info out there on these. Only 1,000 made according to books.

Not sure how many of the Belgian Navy models there are. The whole contract with FN was for 1000 rifles. Value is what both of you agree on as estimating is difficult when you can't find them for sale. Several years ago, I paid around $900 for my Army model. Others have paid less or more for the Israeli model which is more common in the USA. Both are available in Canada, more so than the USA. So prices would vary and probably be lower than here.
