    Crossed Pennants on P-14

    Friends-

Would one of you mind posting a closeup photograph of the insignia of the crossed pennants that you find on the outside receiver rail or bridge of a P-14 Enfield Rifleicon?

I would appreciate it very much. Thank you in advance.

The crossed pennants is the Britishicon military proof mark; the broad arrow is the British property mark, equivalent to the "US" or "US PROPERTY" on American weapons. "GR" (Georgius Rex) is the cypher of then-King George V.)

IIRC, those marks were put on at the American factories by British Army representatives, unlike the equivalent marks on some other guns, which were proved in the UK after receipt. (The military proof is not the same as the commonly seen commercial proof marks, which were applied after the guns were sold out of government stores in the post-WWII era.)
