Here's a pic of my late father taken on the island of Hollandia (New Guinea) in July '44. Dad was in the 503rd PIR.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Awesome photo and one to be preserved for many generations. If you took that photograph to a photography store, they could scan it and digitally enhance the image to make it looks really crisp and striking. I have done that with some of my photographs and it really makes a big difference. The local Wal-mart and stores like that don't really have the capability to do that work. It isn't cheap (~$30), but you do get a great digital image that will last forever. They can even colorize it if you want.
