    M2 stock ID help, please - #5 and K in a circle

    Hi,

I bought an M2 stock from a guy. There are no identifying marks on the stock. Stamped in the sling well, are an inverted "5" and a K in a circle. Do these mean anything or provide any insight on this stock?

Thanks in advance for your expertise

The maker of the stock is not known. It is belived to be a post war replacement and could have been made during the Korean war right up to the early 1960's No information on this stock has yet come to light but it is a USGI replacement stock. hth

I need more documentation to prove it, but I think it may be Keystone Manufacturing from Boston, Mass during WWII. Keystone had two other stock contracts, one which I can identify for the 03 series rifles.

Keystone had a "Stock Assemblies" contract from 10/44 thru 5/45. The time puts it in line with M2 Production. Can't prove it yet, but it makes sense.

I doubt it is post war due to the location of the markings.
