Any Additional Info on Winchester D Stamped

A couple of folks on CMP icon

said that D= duplicate serial ? Sounds good to me...I just wish the info was in a book.

I cannot find anything about the "D" in Duff, Reisch, or Harrison books. My dad picked this one up last week.
