    Cool 1903-a4 scope base

yesterday I mounted a scope in the rings and noted that the rear attachment at the redfield junior scope base was not fully in position, in other words, not square or even on both sides of the base where it is driven onto the rifle's base feature that fits the redfield base. Is this correct or could this make a difference to align the scope and or is this ok? the other thing I noted was that the screw attaching the base to the gun action itself is shorter that the front base screw and I wonder if the base is secure to the action? should the screw at the rear going into the base and then into the action be as long as the front screw? Does anyone have an Ideas? thanks, duggaboy

    id need more info.
is the rifle indeed a real A4? is the base an A4 base, or later commercial.
is the base indeed a Redfield, or other maker?
they do have a gap and fit poorly, however they should be sqaure and straight.
    pics would help.
