    Mauser Sniper Rifle Question

What would a WWII Mauser K98icon Sniper Rifle bring for a given condition?

What would someone wanting to acquire one need to look for?

Are there any out there for sale?

    Thanks in advance!

Yes, there are quite a few for sale, and a few of them are actually legitimate. Beware of something described as a "Sniper rifle", as they are in great demand and many potential buyers don't know what to look for.

Educate yourself and/or buy from a legitimate source which will guarantee that what they sell is legitimate.

As for price, I doubt that you could get anything worthwhile for less than $1000, and depending on rarity and condition, you could spend much more.

    Mauser Sniper Rifle

I found a Mauser site in Calif. that says they have some for sale. I have contacted them and they said they would send some photos but I haven't seen anything in two days. Their prices are far above the $1K mark. I would hate to send such a large sum for a "pig in a poke" so to speak.

Looked at one years ago at a Tulsa Gun Show. It was suppose to be GI bring back with a story for $800!! Back then it might as well have been five grand. Would love to find something like that again!!

Would like to locate one I could really investigate prior to a commitment to purchase. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Depends which sniper rifle you are looking for. ZF 41 are easily faked especially with the reproduction mounts and scopes available. The K43 with original mount and scope are going to be expensive, I would say 3K and up. The turret mount ones are easily faked as well, well at least the mounts are. Authentic turrets are goings are going to cost up to 10K. I saw one sold at Rock Island Auction for some 18K!!! Definitely read all you can about snipers. With the fakes going out there, I would definitely want to hold and examine one up close before shelling out that kind of money. Good luck!
