Can anyone help with identifying?!!?!?!?

I have a .303 rifle that has been in my family for many years, however I have not been able to identify it on all of the websites I have visited. I have attached some photos, but the markings were too small for my camera to distinguish, so I will describe them: On the right side of the barrel, it is marked ENGLAND 303 2.22"

On the left side of the barrel, directly under what I assume was/is a safety of some type, just above the trigger it is marked: Nc.1.MkIII or possibly MkII and just below that is marked FR43

I also tried to attach some pics, but the file size was too large so I will try again! Thanks!

You have a Lee Enfield No1 Mk3 (MkIII). Is there a sliding plate on the right hand side of the action that swings thru' the action and covers the top of the magazine ?

If not then it is a MK3* (Look for a tiny * near the MkIII)
75410Z is the serial number
303 is the calibre (British 303 NOT the same as the American Savage 303)
2.22" is the cartridge length

The 'FR43' is a Factory Repair / Refurbishment and was probably carried out in The Rifle Factory Ishapore (India) in 1943

You got your pictures posted as I was sending my reply - Yes its a No1 MK3* which has been 'sporterised' with the forend woodwork cut down, Should be relatively simple to replace if you want it back in its military configuration.

Thanks for all of the info--mine does not have the sliding plate though? Make any difference??

Nope - just makes it a No1 Mk3* instead of a No1Mk3
This was a wartime "saving" to make production easier and faster. A Mk3 is worth a few pennies more than a Mk3* but so what - its a 'family piece' not an investment.

I looks to me like a MKIII that has had its magazine cutoff removed (you can just see the slot where it went) - a common conversion.

I think your right!
You can just make out the end of the slot in the stock cut out for the charger bridge.
If your ever interested in restoring it to it’s original configuration have a look in the “Restorers Corner” for useful information.
