Anyone ever tried this repro mount?

I have been to the range pulling my hair out with those mounts. I've had them on original T's or sniper builds and they never maintain Zero. The problem with the Chinese mounts are the rings are out of alignment or the bar between the rings has a slight bow. In-turn this ever so slightly causes the scope tube to torc interfering with accuracy. I also have had problems with the feet of the bracket mating to the rifle body pads. I'm very fortunate to have a friend who is a master machinist with a complete machine shop with casting capabilities. He has no overhead and that keeps the cost of producing these mounts down. He is also a perfectionist and his quality work and high standards take up alot of my time. When the brackets first get to me I work on one at a time. I start with the rings and hand lap them. I then mount the scope to the rings and torc the screws down to 35 IN. LBS to ensure uniformity. I attach the bracket and scope to the rifle and bore sight them. I repeat the mounting process three time's and if the bracket does not return to exact Zero it is scrapped and I move on the next bracket. When the bracket passes I then stamp the front and back rings with 3 digit corresponding numbers to ensure the front does not get mixed around and end up on the back. This numbering system can be seen on originals as done by British Armourers in WW2. I then put on the correct Black Phosphate finish that makes all the difference. I'm sure you can see the difference in the photos compared to the Chinese mounts. Please look at my Feedback. All the mounts and pads I have sold in the past everyone has druled over and loved. 100%. I pride myself in your satisfaction.

With all due respect to the seller, there is something odd about the way the shape of the 'caps' at their bottom corners (where they were presumably cut off the original casting) does not 'blend' with the main casting. Don't know quite what to make of that, but presume it is just a cosmetic issue. At first I thought the caps were reversed or swapped back to front. The 'caps' look narrower than the corresponding 'cradle' in the main casting as well.

Don't know if he put the numbers on the 'wrong' side for a reason?

Not an easy thing to make, despite the simple appearance, as others can testify!

I've seen those, he seems to get good feed back on them. They do not appear much different than the repro I bought from Numrich. The cap screws are not counterbored. Did all the originals have counterbored cap screws?

Stamping the numbers on the left side is strange.

I bought a mount and pads from Numrich about a year ago. The pads are identical to the origianls on my TR other than the smooth machined finish. Both are what I would call a perfect copy. The repro mount was mold lines on the exterior below the rear cap. There is a glaring difference in the caps, they are not counterbored so appear to be shorter.

I see Numrich has lowered the prices on there clone mount and pads.

Now YOU DID IT. After reading the above post I went to Gunbroker and bought a Repo mount for my scope/mount less Indian No4T. NO originals available anyway. I can't even find out what it had on it. Now what repo scope to use. The rifle is a correct T reworked by RFI in 1962.action No4MK1/2.S/n 1173. It has a scope number on stock "1456". Goes deep against my grain. So be it. Thanks, Gary

This question will show you what I know about Enfields :lol: But, I believe the receiver would have to be drilled in order to use these mounts, right ? Jack

This rifle already has pads installed by H&H.. Who knows what the Armory in India did. Regards, Gary

I purchased a repro mount from a gentleman in the UK somewhere on the terms of 10-15 years ago. I've found it to be perfectly reliable with none of the zeroing problems mentioned in the ad you quoted. I'm updating my will next week so if I come across the receipt in my papers I'll let you know from whom I bought it.

Do you plan on a No32 or do you want a affordable clone? The Weaver K2.5 does not look bad on an Enfield, that's what I have for my clone T. A Lyman Alaskan would be nice, more money though. You can find both on evil bay, I see some near new condition K2.5's
