Shooting the VZ58 for the first time today
As usual I believe it is impossible to have too many firearms so yesterday I purchased a VZ58 in .223. My son has one in 7.62X39 and it is decent, I just hate cleaning it as we always use surplus ammo in it.
Bought it as it is light, non-restricted and will be a nice gun to carry in the bush,
Love .223 and it seems the recoil from the VZ was even less than I expected which is a added bonus.
Accuracy has been described as "minute of man" at 100 so really didn't expect much better than that.
My son put 3 clays at 304 yards (yes just got a new Vortex Rangerfinder) and we shot about 15 rounds, he thought it was shooting a little left and after a couple more shots I agreed. We had hit 2 out of the 3 however that was using a little "Kentucky windage", Took the SKS front sight tool and adjusted the sight and told him I though I may have adjusted too much.
He loaded the mag with 5 and I was spotting, told me he would hold a military dead centre, first shot and it was a perfect hit.
The point is these guns will shoot and far better than I imagined possible, was using Federal Ammo and believe it has the possibility of being quite accurate out to 500. Don't be afraid to buy one, you won't be disappointed.
Will try to find a 5 round mag as I am not that impressed with the plastic mags (5/30's) however they fit perfectly and function flawlessly, they just look hokey.
