Hello,
I'm posting a few pictures of a gun I inherited from my uncle. I am not a "gun guy" so I do not know anything about it other than it is an Enfield. Any information I could get on it would be great. Thanks!

Your rifle was manufactured in 1942 by Stevens-Savage at the Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts plant. It started off as a No4 MkI* but was converted to a No4 MkI/3 in 1952 by Fazakerley.
Stevex70: A nice first Lee Enfield- are you thinking about starting a collection? Even if you're not, you might enjoy an inexpensive book on the No. 4 by Charles Stratton (British Enfield Rifles, Vol 2.........No. 4 and No. 5 Rifles). Can usually find on e-bay. The conversion to Mk 1/3 involved relocation of the trigger and pin onto the body from its original position on the triggergaurd to upgrade the rifle to the final final version- the Mk 2. The long transverse screw at the rear of the forend is also part of the upgrade and means slightly different stripping procedure if you plan to do that. In any case, if you browse through old threads on this forum with the built in search engine you'll find lots of info about the Savage No. 4 Mk 1*. Enjoy the rifle.
