Stevex70: A nice first Lee Enfield- are you thinking about starting a collection? Even if you're not, you might enjoy an inexpensive book on the No. 4 by Charles Stratton (Britishicon Enfield Riflesicon, Vol 2.........No. 4 and No. 5 Rifles). Can usually find on e-bay. The conversion to Mk 1/3 involved relocation of the trigger and pin onto the body from its original position on the triggergaurd to upgrade the rifle to the final final version- the Mk 2. The long transverse screw at the rear of the forend is also part of the upgrade and means slightly different stripping procedure if you plan to do that. In any case, if you browse through old threads on this forum with the built in search engine you'll find lots of info about the Savage No. 4 Mk 1*. Enjoy the rifle.
