In time, the shooter may out himself like that seal did that killed bin laden. They are certainly not supposed to but sometimes it happens if the news is big enough. I can't remember the seals name that got bin laden but I do know his teammates did not appreciate him coming out at all

I respectfully disagree on the secrecy of the sniper. Every single police shooting in the nation is broadcast almost immediately with the name of the police officer involved.
This is NOT in a foreign land, nor is it a military operation. This a domestic incident and it is a police incident Secret Service or not and it is a Secret Service screwup on a magnitude we simply are not used to seeing.
The people require answers on this one. They are trying to hide too many things these days.
Early 90's a employee of mine was involved in a self defense shooting in a gas station during a stop on the way home after a late Saturday shift.
He unknowingly walked inside, right in to a 2 man armed robbery. He was taken into custody for further investigation. I was out of town with a small crew getting home late Sunday evening and knew nothing about it until early Monday morning when I went to our office / shop to find 2 local news crews and their camera crews. At first I thought maybe a break in had happened or worse a body had been found since the area is light industrial. I was pretty much attacked with questions about the employee and the shooting. I tried telling them I just got back in town and was unaware of anything that had gone on. They made sure to film me, the signage, buildings and address as I repeatedly asked them to leave. Later on the news I see this employees picture with his company hat and shirt on, along with the film of me, my office, Trucks, Lifts, Trailers, Shop and Signage. Even a view of the name plates on the Reserved Parking spots for the office staff. Much of it was also printed in the papers for the time it took until they cleared him of any charges and deemed it self defense. He'd ducked a shot and shot 1 guy 1 time in the stomach, then ran to his truck and drove down the road to a fire station. But when everything was over if you were a relation or friend of the guy he returned fire on you'd of been able to locate my employee's home, my office and my home....... Which had all been printed in the papers and some mentioned on the local TV news.
My lawyer was doing what he could to limit 'The Freedom of The Press' but the damage was done. Because it just takes that 1 time letting that personal info out there.
His nerves were shot afterward and started using different Doctor prescribed meds but I believe he started to Self Medicate and never was the same guy. Roughly a ~year after the shooting he moved never to be heard from again. He worked almost 10 years for me and was one of the best climbers / riggers I've had. I'll admit during that 1st year after the shooting to paying extra attention to bumps in the night.
**I know some what off topic, just trying to point out when your name is out there.
I did raise this early on in this thread, post 45 and earlier posts, but the notion of the possibility of it not being a Secret Service sniper was not, in any way, entertained by other contributors to this thread.Quote:

Not trying to argue, just trying to keep things in perspective because this thread is 16 pages long already.
The who shot the shooter covers the scenario of possibly a 400 yd shot in fact they say 2 shots but in all fairness it will take a long time if at all if they release any details on which position the counter shot came from.
Painter ~ Sometimes I feel the press makes situations far worse, we are suffering that at the moment with the new firearms act and the media scare mongering that all LFAO's are a risk to society.
What I heard yesterday was that the shot was in excess of 400 yards which means it was outside the Secret Service coverage area. Which again brings up the importance of knowing who took the shot. We had two Secret Service snipers on camera the entire time appearing to be watching the roof but after seeing the video of Crooks running across the roof in the seconds prior to the shot, that seems to discount these two watching him as they were not moving.
If it was not Secret Service, this is ANOTHER issue with this entire fiasco that is on them.
In Reply 134 in the Video Cinders posted, That shot from the wood bleachers was 350+ yards. If that is true and there were Snipers there, they would have had a good view of Crooks running across the roof. Again if true.. But doesn't answer who shot. But it was outside the USSS boundary line.Quote:

Wow I can't believe he said that Charlie! There is no way all those local police men and women are going on camera and lying. It is so obvious the secret service are the ones lying. Are the SS just thinking this will eventually go away and they'll stop asking questions haha? It's not made sense to me from day one when the SS were pointing their fingers at local police when it was them that were in charge. The cheatle lady actually said the buck stops with her and then immediately pointed her finger at someone else haha. This stinks so bad I don't even know what to think anymore. And I agree with you on if it was one of the teams behind Trump that made the shot, surely someone in those bleachers would have commented on hearing it. But no one has to my knowledge. Even suppressed would be able to be heard at that close of a distance. If it actually ends up being a local police sniper team that ended up saving Trump's behind, then all hell is fixing to break loose. That would mean the secret service were there for absolutely nothing, contributing nothing to stop the assassination attempt. Which of course points to intentional negligence
