This is one of my worst fears. Not only for the fact that my rifles might be stolen, but because of the fact that these low life pieces of **** have no clue or respect of the amount of history they now own. No gangbanger is going to appreciate a Garand, 1903 or any other battle rifle for that matter.
Years ago a fried had 35 pistols stolen ... he got most of them back over several years after they were used in crimes. One nitwit got caught robbing a gas station of $25 with a $1200 American Eagle Luger.
Gun crime would drop if a mandatory death sentenance was imposed for armed robery or theft of firearms! Judge or jurors had no say in the matter.
Hope you recover all your rifles, what a fine collection. ................................Waterdog.
I personally feel bad for You. Not for the loss of Your weapons, but the loss of your pesonal security. I leave a bait gun with a blocked barrel(.22) that i bought for $50 at a pawn shop. Most theives around here just take what they can see. In and out in a hurry. I figure if my dogs don't get at them, and they make off with the bait gun, they will wind up in the hospital with a face full of steel, and the case will be solved real quick. I for one will be on the lookout for You here in Western Washington at the Gunshows. The I-5 corridor brings us all sorts of nice people from Your neck of the woods......LOL
Not too smart in my opinion. Better check your state booby trap laws before you find yourself in more trouble than you anticipate, both criminal and civil. Many states have a castle doctrine that enables you to defend your property, but I doubt it covers setting a trap that will kill or injure someone at a later date. Also, most burglars sell thier loot. What if he sells it to some kid or innocent party who tries it out without checking it out.
Gun crime would drop if the laws now in effect were used effectively. Use of a firearm in commisson of a crime carries a 10 year mandatory sentence by federal law. It is rarely prosecuted. Most of the time it is one of the charges dropped in a plea bargain to get the case through the court system faster.
