You call the picture I posted a nick? Ouch!!
I think that guy would dissagree with you on that one

I'd like to see how he got his thumb inside the magazine, that far, while loading a full clip of ammo, and had it hit by the bold on that side....sorry, just am not accepting this is a legitimate picture of Garand Thumb as a result of loading a full clip of ammo. I suspect he smashed it with an empty magazine, not loading.

He bought his first Garand last summer, all I can say is credibility is earned...and not overnight.

I dont know why dont you ask him. He replied along with several others that it happened to them on the M14 forum

It's possible if there were only 7 rounds in the clip. The bolt could over run the top round and attempt to chamber the thumb instead.
