No worries I'm enjoying it! Butt removal excepted!
Is there anything else unusual to look for while I'm "under the hood"?

Well actually yes...
On the 3 No4T's I've owned all had a large block letter T stamped on the bottom of the barrel just forward of the receiver ring. I’d be interested in knowing if yours has one as well. Also just for your own personal information look for and make a note of the barrel date. These markings would be good to add to your photo documentation as well.
I also just noticed I asked if the serial number was on the right side of the barrel. It should be on the left or side opposite the bolt handle. Sorry if I cause any confusion.
Just for info, the Enfield "T" I had post about earlier that has no "T" stamped on the side of the receiver but has the final Enfield insp stamp, also has that block "T" stamped on the underside of the barrel.
In addition my Trials "T" has a "T" stamped there as well but the "T" there is the special type normally used on Enfield sniper rifles not a block "T". Ray
Ok, I was finally able to remove all the old girls' furniture.
First, the two upper handguards are hand numbered to the rifle in pencil or something. They are both stamp marked S.L.
Second, The barrel is numbered to the rifle. It is marked 43and yes gents, she has a "T" stamped on her dirty little bottom...sans serifs!
It seems that a "T" on the barrel bottom may be a good sign... if all else is right.
What say you?
Ray does your trials T have the T stamped on the butt socket like the one in the virtual tour:

Well that is the icing on the cake for me.
Having Peter and Roger declare your rifle to be authentic is good enough but what you found, in my eye, just nails it down. One of my “45 T’s also has the serial numbers in the two upper handguards written in pencil as well. Hope you got photos of everything.
The Trials has no other "T"s on it, Ray
Yes, the T on the barrel seems to be a common factor to H&H set up rifles. Another little tip to look for is the breeching up alignment mark on the underside of the barrel/receiver interface. They are generally rather crudely cut into the metal, & look to have been applied with a chisel. (I kid ye not).

Yes the alignment mark is present, but it is surgically executed on this example. Perhaps the barrel man was fresh from a coffee... sorry, tea break. As No4Mk1T has suggested, I will take more photos and complete a data sheet for my records when I have the time to do a decent job of it.
