I can just quote from what I know but I saw ax ex T rifle as one of the skeletonised trainers. It looked OK from what I could see but on closer examination I could see the front pad screw still sheared off in the hole and covered in phosphate and paint, it didn't even look like it'd ever been drilled and tapped.
So when it sheared off in use, the rifle went back and when, say, 200 were required for DP or skeletonisation, in it went. The same probably happened with yours. We've had them relegated to DP spec after being in a huge fire. Look perfect but possibly a metallurgical nightmare.................
