Has anyone ever come across one of these before? I can't find it listed in pre or post war catalogues. With the quick latch system it might be designed for a factory worker or armourer who needs to handle a lot of rifles in a day! It fits the forend of a No4. just forward of the band. Armourers had the usual bench vice and armourers horse thing making that gadget redundant. Useful for a home tinkerer or for giving the barrel a good scrub
Now looks like a useful bit of kit, watch that tiled table mind!
It would hold secure for scrubbing the bore out...
It clamped around one's tent pole - most competitors at the Meeting would have been housed in tents (provided by the Army) in those days.
That makes more sense...
I know the Bisley Vice had the option of being able to fit to a tent pole but it had the advantage of being able to be rotated. This vice doesn't so if fitted to a tent pole it would hold the rifle in a vertical position!
Right, At the end of day and shooting is done, the rifle stands in the center of the bell tent out of the way. This ensures it doesn't get stepped on or fall down. Not for cleaning or servicing.Quote:

That was for troops to use. Parker Hale catered to target shooters and hunters. My thoughts would be a cleaning vise for range use.Quote:
