I am looking for two long axis pins with threaded end to fit the PH5C rear portion to the No4 receiver.
If no original is available, can someone supply info for aftermarket source please.
tks in advance,

Why not use a short metal thread through only the left hand side "ear" it'd be a lot easier to find than a threaded axis pin? I see them working very well on rifles every weekend at the range.
Try a crossbolt from a No4 Mk2 forend. A little long, but could be cut down. You can put the nut on after you screw the bolt through the sight base for a little added security.
Also allows you to pull the backsight "ears" in if you want to close up the boltway a tad.
I am guessing you mean the PH BA20 / 21 scope mount bases ?
The L39 was not normally fitted with a scope, just an AJP 4/47 rear sight.
When I built my Enforcer clone I found that you will not be able to fit both a 5C or 4/47 sight AND a scope as the rear of the sight mount (on the 5c) will be covering the dovetail on the BA mount and you will not be able to get the rings mounted.
That is why the PH5E/4 sight mounting moves the sight rerwards by about an inch on the Enforcer - which did have both a sight and a scope fitted.
See how much further back (in relation to the cocking piece) the sight is on a 5E - first pic compared to a 5C second pic

I am pretty sure EFD (EDF?) in Kent do them - they post on this board.

There's a fellow making and selling the long axis pins with threaded end to fit the PH5C on evil bay. Exact copy of the originals. They show up once or twice a month.
Great. As long as I could manage to get both sighting systems on the rifle, I do not mind taking off the vertical sliding arm on the PH5C when using scope.
When using the target rifle metallic sight, I could simply remove scope off rifle and leave mounting system in place.
I will check with short rear mounting screw for PH5C if I have enough clearance to allow for scope use when the sliding arm is removed.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but Alan's earlier comment about the PH5C's sight mount (the bit that stays on the rifle after you have removed the sight arm) covering over part of the dovetail on the BA21 rear base means that if you have the PH5C sight mount on the rifle with a BA21 rear mount, you will not be able to fit the rings to mount a scope. In other words, you would have to remove the sight mount completely before you could fit a scope. The only way you are going to have a set-up with a quickly interchangeable aperture rear sight and a scope on the rifle if you are using the BA21 rear base is to use a PH5E/4, which clears the dovetail. Then again, you would then be working on an Enforcer clone, and would have to either get hold of an Enforcer safety (rocking horse poo), grind a normal one down to fit or put up with not having a functioning safety (this has been discussed here recently).
I, of course, could be talking out of my butt as I am not actually functionally awake right now..
A perfect summary - I know from experience - I've tried and failed !!!
If you fit a 5C you cannot use the BA21 and scope rings.
If you fit a 5E sight then you can use the scope sight rings but you cannot use the safety.
The answer is - get hold of a 5E sight and make a new shortened safety (you cannot buy one - they are at least 10 shelves above rocking horse poo & hens teeth)
The shooting team with the Cheshire Regiment used No4T rifles without the scopes but WITH PH5C sights in order to shoot in SR(b) comps. They had the sights modified with blocks so that they would just clear the rear mounting pad when held firmly with the longer ejector and backsight axis screw replacement.
The thickness of the spacer blocks (to the left) was taken up by moving the eye piece furrther to the right along the deflection crossbar.
They worked perfectly and I believe that these were modified by PH for the Regiment because the additional blocks seemed to be soft soldered in place but were all properly blued as per original. The Cheshires were very competitive in the shooting world and the rifles were in use until the No4T's were replaced by the L42's and the sights were simply transferred to the L39's. The L39's out-shot the No4T's but the old No4T's were getting old by then. No doubt the No4T's were re-worked to L42 during the 80's
Alan, I learned it all from you :)
Thank you Alan for the perfect summary.
I wonder if I could find a 5E to buy or trade for a 5C??
Worse case scenario, I will have to fit or remove the 5C if I want to enjoy the peep with the excellent AJP MatchMaker front sight system, or the glass system.
