In other words, you would have to remove the sight mount completely before you could fit a scope. The only way you are going to have a set-up with a quickly interchangeable aperture rear sight and a scope on the rifle if you are using the BA21 rear base is to use a PH5E/4, which clears the dovetail. Then again, you would then be working on an Enforcer clone, and would have to either get hold of an Enforcer safety (rocking horse poo), grind a normal one down to fit or put up with not having a functioning safety (this has been discussed here recently).

I, of course, could be talking out of my butt as I am not actually functionally awake right now..
    A perfect summary - I know from experience - I've tried and failed !!!

If you fit a 5C you cannot use the BA21 and scope rings.
If you fit a 5E sight then you can use the scope sight rings but you cannot use the safety.

The answer is - get hold of a 5E sight and make a new shortened safety (you cannot buy one - they are at least 10 shelves above rocking horse poo & hens teeth)

Thank you Alan for the perfect summary.

I wonder if I could find a 5E to buy or trade for a 5C??

Worse case scenario, I will have to fit or remove the 5C if I want to enjoy the peep with the excellent AJP MatchMaker front sight system, or the glass system.

Make sure that you look for a PH 5E/4 and not a 5E.
the 5E was for the Mauser action and the shape is completely different to an Enfield No4 action.
Few and far between and a bit more expensive than a 5C
    Good luck

    Repeat - it must be a 5E/4
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

I think we have some 5Es or TZs in the bits box.
