If KG is about, he will give you some info on them, I've been looking for a deac version myself, I know a number came into the UK about 4 years back but there scarce now. Anyone have one for sale?
As I understand it, the 1B is a 'new build' gun as opposed to a conversion. I'll ask our Indial Liaison Offr. to get the details for the benefit of the forum

Is the 1B fully interchangeable-ish with the L4A2 series KG? Barrel nuts, mag catch assembly ?

We had 4 Indian Sterlings in our armoury not 6 months ago when a cou-ple of companies of the Jats (Indian Army) were training here. While I didn't try interchangeability, they certainly looked identical and fired exactly the same on the ranges. You'd be suprised how few in the UK Military haven't even hEARD of the Sterling or even SMG's....., let alone used one!
They say that the Bren was the Centurion tank of small arms. If that's the case, then the Sterling MUST be the Land Rover. And talking of which, that is Indian owned now and is equipping the Indian Army as we speak.
With events in Asia as they are, I have to say that I'm glad the Indians are on our side..............
Yes Peter all parts/asemblies inc the ejector block are the same as the L4A4 and Indian 1A 15GA 7.62 conversions.Quote:

The only differences in the new built 1B 16GA guns are slightly different machining to the top of the body and a thicker wall to the strengthening web to the top of the magazine well, putting back some material that the converted guns had to sacrifice for the wider 7.62 mag.

The Indian 7.62 guns also had their own distinct style of flash hider with ovoid machining cuts.

Ah yes....... I suspect that the flash eliminator design is to prevent it splitting. I did see a few split L4's but not many I have to say. certainly not as many as split rifle flash eliminators.
L4 Barrels. The trouble is that you're there CSM and we're here!
